RISK UK - Business Contingency – Threat? What threat?
Few would argue that most businesses in the UK have done little to prepare business contingency plans. With the increased level of threat facing the country, one has to wonder why, despite all the good advice to plan and prepare, this is still the case.
RISK UK - Business Regulation
As end-users are now liable to be fined for contracting unlicensed guards or for having unsuitable fire prevention on site etc, are there too many responsibilities being placed on the shoulders of Managing Directors? Is the weight of legislation in danger of getting too heavy for business?
RISK UK - DOES Softer Sentencing Threaten the Private Security Industry?
Do you foresee that the proposed lenient sentencing might result in some companies (particularly in the retail sector) withdrawing/decreasing security services as the deterrent of being caught and tried is reducing and the cost of going through court proceedings, to only result in an ABC for example, is a fruitless endeavour? Does softer sentencing threaten the private security sector?
RISK UK - Getting Value for Money
In the security industry, does the customer always get what he pays for? In other words, whilst the cheapest option is appealing, is it always the best one to choose?
RISK UK - ID Cards and Border Controls
Would you scrap the ID card scheme for tighter border controls or would you spend the £20billion on another national security measure, and what would it be? Or indeed, would you keep the identity scheme?
RISK UK - Should HMRC Staff Losing Data be Fired?
Despite the incredible breach in IT security last year, HMRC staff recently received performance-related bonuses totalling £19m. Should government bodies and ministers be fined or fired rather than rewarded if there is a basic failure to protect the private information they hold? The blaming of a "junior" at the company allowed almost everyone to dodge the bullet and today we are all still none the wiser as to what happened. If you were so incompetent at work would you be rewarded?
Risk UK - Success Through A Vision of Quality.
A little over a year ago we formed a Vision of how we would approach the security market. Over the twelve months which followed we refused to bid for low value commodity security contracts where the end user does not value the product they are purchasing; and successfully won quality business against the run of play. We focused on PLU – People Like Us - those people who realise 'you get what you pay for' , and were prepared to pay for the best. This will continue to be our Vision.
RISK UK – Has the Government Been Good for the Security Industry?
The major political parties in the UK are constantly spouting statistics for one or another aspect of crime prevention etc but do you think that the Labour Government has been a good one for the security industry, and for public safety in general? Are we safer and more stable than ten years ago? Do you think that a Conservative government would have done anything differently?
RISK UK – Should We Stay in Europe?
As much of our lives these days is influenced by legislation from Europe, do you think that Britain's embracing of all things EU has been beneficial to the security industry? Is it now time to sit back and take stock of where we are with Europe and whether we want to continue down that path?
